Schmeichel believes it is better to have ‘points on the board than games in hand.’

Of the top four race, he told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast: “I think Arsenal has shown some great form.

“But actually, in terms of current form in the last 5 matches, Man Utd is slightly better than Arsenal. It’s hard to see but they did it.”

“I think there are points on the board rather than the game in hand [is more important].

“It was (Leeds) a great win, let me fully understand that it was a great win, but I still think this team still has a long, very long way to go.

“In terms of football, they still have a lot to prove.”
