Man Utd is the most supported Premier League team in the US. But can you guess who number 1 is?

MANCHESTER UNITED is no longer the most-supported Premier League club in the US.

And in more bad news for Red Devils fans, they have been overtaken by one of their biggest rivals.

A recent Morning Consult poll found that United were toppled from their spot in the United States, having long been considered the country’s most popular team.

The club built a huge following across the pond during Sir Alex Ferguson’s glittering 26 years at the helm.

But they are no longer the most supported club in a country where the marketing opportunities for Premier League clubs are enormous.

The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton have all jetted across the Atlantic before the start of the season on the pre-season tour.

If you travel to the US during the pre-season, prem clubs can tap this huge market in the land of opportunity.

And it’s one of the teams that were in the States earlier this year and pushed the Red Devils from the top of support in the country.

Bitter rivals Liverpool are now America’s most popular club.

Of the Prem fans who took part in the survey, 61 percent stated that they viewed Jürgen Klopp’s team very positively or fairly positively.

Although it’s not all bad news for Erik ten Hag and Co.

They trailed just behind Liverpool, with 60 per cent of Prem fans saying they were positive towards United.

But that spot is under threat in the future as 59 per cent of Prem fans admit they had positive views of crosstown rivals Manchester City.

Chelsea (57 percent) and Arsenal (54 percent) completed the list of the top five most popular Prem clubs in the US.

Interestingly, Newcastle beat Tottenham for sixth place, with Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton being the three least popular Prem teams across the pond.

United’s ousting from first place could have something to do with their bad luck lately.

The Red Devils have not won a trophy since winning the 2017 Europa League under Jose Mourinho.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have enjoyed remarkable success, winning six trophies in the past three years, including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.
