Man Utd hopeful David De Gea is set to agree to a new contract with a special offer for the Spain goalkeeper

DAVID DE GEA could be offered the carrot of a cash-grabbing testimonial if he agrees to a pay cut.
The Manchester United goalkeeper has a new deal on the table that would see his current £375,000-a-week base salary reduced by almost 50 per cent.
De Gea, 32, is out of contract next summer and wants to stay at Old Trafford, but so far talks over new terms have stalled.
United manager Erik ten Hag has publicly pledged his support for the Spaniard, despite concerns from the player’s camp that he might not be No. 1 next season.
De Gea was signed from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and the pandemic saw plans for a testimonial year on hold.
He is now in his second decade at United and the club will seek to recognize his long service – provided he puts pen to paper in the coming weeks.
Ten Hag has been linked with other top goalkeepers in recent months.
It is understood United have sent scouts to watch Porto stopper Diogo Costa.
And the Red Devils are reportedly interested in Everton’s England no. 1 Jordan Pickford.
Brentford’s David Raya was also mentioned, although new Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is the favorite to lure the Spaniard.
De Gea however. kept a clean sheet as Casemiro beat Bournemouth with a stunning overhead kick on Saturday.
That and Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa means United need just a point from their last two games to secure a Champions League spot
