It’s been a breakthrough year for Garnacho who recently signed a lucrative five-year deal with the club.

But incredibly, United were able to fetch him from Atlético Madrid last year for just a £100,000 settlement, according to a report the athlete.

They claim scout Gerardo Guzman reported him to David Harrison, the Red Devils’ head of youth recruiting.

And he liked what he saw, and director of football John Murtough approved the discount.

Fans have praised the club for signing Garnacho, with one saying: “Biggest bargain ever.”

Another added: “We need to do more of that instead of wasting £100m on players all the time.”

A third replied: “Well spent. I can’t remember the last time we made a sensible investment.”

Some even joked that the amount it cost to buy Garnacho was as much as the weekly wages of some of his teammates.

According to other reports, the fee for his signature was closer to £500,000.

If Man Utd win the FA Cup it would be a sensational climb for Garnacho after lifting the youth version of the trophy last year.

The 18-year-old prodigy has scored five goals and provided six assists this season.

And he also enjoys life away from the field, because his girlfriend is expecting a baby.
