CASEMIRO received his marching orders after putting his hands around Will Hughes’ neck during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian went a step too far in the second half after a tackle on Antony sparked a mass brawl.

While confronting Hughes with United holding a 2-0 advantage over the visitors, Casemiro wrapped his hands around Hughes’ neck.

VAR then reviewed the incident and ordered referee Andre Marriner to show Casemiro a straight red – the first of his club and international career.

Palace did manage to withdraw through Jeffrey Schlupp – but it proved too little too late.

Casemiro’s moment of madness has fans all saying the same thing: the United star will be fresh and ready for the Europa League double-header against Barcelona AND the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.

The midfielder will miss the league games against Leeds and a home game against Leicester City.

United meet Barca in the round of 32 on February 16 and 23 and with Casemiro suspended domestically he can play in those games.

Three days later, on the 26th, there is then a clash at Wembley with Newcastle for the League Cup and Casemiro will be free of suspensions.

One fan said: “Could do without Casemiro for missing games but if there’s a silver lining then Ten Hag wouldn’t have rested him so at least he’s fresher for Barca.

“And now Sabitzer is thrown in and given the minutes to acclimate faster than he otherwise would have.”

A second tweeted: “If I could pick two teams for Casemiro to be suspended against it would probably be Leeds and Leicester.

“We should both win without him, then he’ll be rested for the final between Barca and Carabao.”

A third added: “A fully rested Casemiro, playing home and away against Barcelona.

“That could actually turn out to be beneficial for us.”
