LEICESTER are ready to battle Everton and other Premier League rivals for Manchester United midfielder James Garner.
New United boss Erik Ten Hag could yet decide Garner should be part of his Old Trafford revolution.
But Leicester and Everton are the most likely clubs to pounce if the England Under-21 international is allowed to leave the club he joined when he was eight.
Garner, 21, has attracted a number of admirers with his loan spells for Nottingham Forest.
Southampton and Leeds have also been eyeing him.
But Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has made it clear he wants to strengthen his midfield and Garner is believed to be high on his list of potential signings.
Garner and Forest knocked Leicester out of the FA Cup earlier this season with a performance that suggested both player and team had the quality to play regularly in the Premier League.
If United can’t offer that prospect, they won’t be short of options.
The Red Devils are expecting a major roster overhaul this summer amid the arrival of Ten Hag.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic will all leave when their contracts expire.

And interim boss Ralf Rangnick confirmed earlier this month that they may need up to EIGHT players to rejuvenate the team.
He said: “In the end, football is pretty simple, you just have to win games.
“In order to do that, it’s obvious that with some players whose contracts are expiring, we need a number of new players.
“There are at least a few players who are really top players for this club, but as I said, we need all other areas.
“[I] Suppose there will be six or eight new players. They should be top players to strengthen the quality of the squad.”
