According to Mundo Deportivo, an agreement between Barca and Gavi’s agent is not close.

And with just over a year left on his contract, the 17-year-old is subject to transfer interest, especially from Prem.

‘Negotiations are at an impasse’, opening the door to moves to Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Gavi could be paid £42m this summer if he decides to leave.

His release clause will then increase to £100m after June 30, but Barca still risks losing their academy graduate.

The club’s legend and Barca coach, Xavi is a big fan of the young midfielder.

World Cup winner Spain says ‘incredible’ Gavi ‘astonished him.

Speaking after Barca scored against their opponents for the fourth time in six games, Xavi said: “Gavi amazes me.

“It’s been amazing the way he works, the way he puts pressure, and with the ball he still needs to hold his head higher, but at 17, Gavi is unbelievable.”

Barca has had a good start in terms of form after a successful January transfer window.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres both have a big impact on attack.

The duo have scored 11 goals between them.

Regarding Torres, Xavi said: “It was only a matter of time before Ferran started bringing them in.

“He’s done that everywhere in his career. At Valencia, Manchester City, the national team…

“Sometimes Ferran was unlucky in front of goal, but the rest he created a lot for us.

“He’s one of the best runners on the team, and look: two goals.”

And about former Arsenal captain Aubameyang, he said: “Aubameyang is a gift from the sky.

“He’s positive, hard-working and very relevant in the dressing room. It’s been a privilege to coach him.”
