Man Utd boss Ten Hag tells Maguire he will be given a chance to be seated again after rejecting Inter Milan transfer offer

ERIK TEN HAG has told Harry Maguire he will be given plenty of chances to regain his first-team spot after blocking Inter Milan’s bid to loan him out.

Inter were hoping to offer Maguire a route back to regular Serie A duty, but Manchester United boss Ten Hag refused to let him go.

The centre-back has made just four league appearances this season with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane being the manager’s first choices.

But Ten Hag told Maguire this week he will have plenty of vacancies in the second half of the season as United chase silverware on four fronts.

The Dutchman has been impressed with Maguire’s attitude in training and how he has reacted to losing his place in recent weeks.

And Ten Hag has assured him United’s hectic schedule will mean more opportunities to play in the second half of the season.

They already have eight games to play this month with the prospect of a hectic March schedule if they beat Barcelona in the Europa League play-off.

Inter were just one of many clubs inquiring about Maguire, who started all five of England’s games in Qatar but has only kicked off three for United since the World Cup.

The £85million ex-Leicester star came on as a substitute in the final minutes as United’s ten-man side beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at home on Saturday.

Ten Hag strengthened his defense as the Eagles rushed forward after a late red card for Red Devils midfielder Casemiro.

But Maguire and co kept them at bay as United finished third.

Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot is being offered a treble deal to keep him at Old Trafford for another five years.

Dalot, 23, is keen to stay but is one of the lowest paid members of the squad at around £30,000 a week.

More talks over increased terms have been held over the past week and United are confident he will commit to £85,000 plus bonuses by 2028.
