He was also recognized at international level when Argentina called him up to the senior team in March as a 17-year-old.

United are keen to hang on to the prodigy and will meet with his agents in the coming days to discuss his future.

According to AS, United bosses are set to discuss a new deal for the winger.

Garnacho is under contract at United until 2025 but the club are keen to extend his stay after impressing Erik ten Hag last season.

The Dutchman said of the 18-year-old after his performance against Rayo Vallecano: “He played pretty well – he’s just a teenager but his performance was really good.”

United are looking to discourage clubs from opting for Garnacho as Real Madrid are reportedly showing interest in the summer.

Real are watching him “very closely”, but other clubs have also kept an eye on the Argentine.

Garnacho enjoyed a successful season with United U18, registering 14 goals and six assists in 34 games in all competitions.

He was tipped off to break into the first-team after Ralf Rangnick handed him brief cameos against Chelsea and Crystal Palace towards the end of last season.

But Ten Hag is yet to give him another chance, despite Garnacho being named on the bench in United’s 3-2 win over Omonia in the Europa League on Thursday.
