MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly hoping to finalize the signing of Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong THIS WEEK.
And it has been said boss Erik ten Hag will then try to land Christian Eriksen on a free transfer before focusing on Ajax winger Antony.
Dutch midfielder De Jong is known to be the Red Devils’ No. 1 target and talks with the Blaugrana are now at an advanced stage.
A £65million plus bonuses offer is said to be in the works, with United confident it will be accepted.
And according to The Times, United could announce the transfer by the end of the week after making big strides on the deal.
With the priority of central midfielder Ten Hag, according to the news agency, he will then force free agent Christian Eriksen to come to the club.
However, the Danish playmaker is also wanted by Brentford, for whom he has agreed a short-term deal for the second half of the 2021/22 season.
It’s understood the 30-year-old will soon make a decision about his future as he ponders a move to Old Trafford.
Should United secure the services of De Jong and Eriksen, The Times have explained that Ten Hag will then try to raid former employers for Brazilian striker Antony.
However, they have insisted the 22-year-old will not come cheap as the Eredivisie champions endure a fee in the region of £68.9million.

However, United are reluctant to give that much money and will negotiate a lower fee with Ajax.
Next on Ten Hag’s wish list is a defender, where he could ambush Ajax again for centre-backs Lisandro Martinez and Jurrien Timber.
However, they compete with Arsenal in the race for Martinez after the Gunners made a £34.5m second bid for the 24-year-old.
Alongside the Ajax pair, Villarreal’s Pau Torres is also said to be an option, although the Spaniard has stated he is happy at the club.
United know they have to let players go to raise funds for signings, with Anthony Martial claiming to have been put up for sale.
Andreas Pereira is another United hope to capitalize on from Fulham, who recently made a £11million bid.
And United are also ready to hear offers for Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly.
