ST. LOUIS (AP) – Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to schedule a trial to determine if a suspected serial killer is mentally fit to stand trial.
The United States Attorney’s Office filed a petition Tuesday asking for a hearing for 26-year-old Perez Deshay Reed before trial on federal gun charges.
Perez is accused of killing a total of six people in the St. Louis and Kansas City, Kansas. The federal charges him with transporting a firearm across state lines with intent to commit a felony.
State and federal investigators say Reed used the same weapon in all six killings.
