Man ‘saws jogger down with his car before taking body to have sex with it’

A man allegedly cut down a jogger with his car before taking the body away to have sex with it.

The crime happened in September 2021, but new evidence suggests that Colby Martin didn’t just kill the woman.

Martin was initially charged with manslaughter with a motor vehicle, failure to stop at the scene of a fatal crash at fault, and concealment of an individual’s death in connection with the death of Melody Rohrer, according to ABC7.

He has run out of $300,000 in bonds since the September 2021 crash.

But a probable cause hearing was held on February 15 where new evidence was presented, leading to the murder charge going public.

Detective Andrew Galor of the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said during a trial Martin searched for pornography involving dead or unconscious women shortly after the 64-year-old Rohrer went missing.

Martin’s DNA is also believed to be found on condoms in his car, as well as in a trash can near his home.

Judge Michael McKay of Van Buren District Court said at Tuesday’s hearing that evidence that Martin intentionally beat the woman, took her body and performed sexual acts, was the likely cause. for public murder.

Martin appeared in Van Buren County Court on February 16, where he was charged with public murder.

He is said to have crashed Rohrer with his car at Oak Shores Campground on September 20, 2021.

The next day, when officials took Martin to a Walmart parking lot, he reported that the front end of his Ford F-150 was severely damaged.

He was also found to be in possession of Rohrer’s cell phone.

Detectives said Martin repeatedly tried to cover up evidence related to the crime.

Martin then led detectives to her body at the Three Rivers State Game Park the next day, according to ABC7.

He is currently being held without bond. His next court date is scheduled for March 15.
