Man leading police on a car chase at Midpoint Bridge arrested

FORT MYERS
The Fort Myers Police Department confirmed to WINK News that a man was arrested after leading a police pursuit.
Around 11:30 p.m., FMPD officers received a call that a robbery was in progress on the 2800 block of Broadway Avenue in Fort Myers. Officers then saw a black car leave the area of the robbery and avoid law enforcement.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver started speeding and disregarded public safety. The driver then crashed into another vehicle on the Midpoint Bridge, where the chase ended.
The driver was taken into custody, and police found a loaded gun under the driver’s seat. The driver, Bryant Moreland, 45, was later arrested.
Moreland could face charges of cocaine possession, fleeing and evading police, possession of a convict’s weapon and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
FMPD continues to investigate the robbery along Broadway Ave, calling it a separate incident.
