Man in wheelchair catches thief stealing package from his porch

North America

Doorbell camera video shows a man walking to an apartment, grabbing a package and taking off. The man to whom the package belonged was in a wheelchair and wanted to make sure this didn’t happen to anyone else.

Jeff Judy knows he’s an easy mark for so many different people, simply because he’s in a wheelchair. Judy says he lost the ability to use his legs a few years ago in a motorcycle crash.

On Monday afternoon, he received notification that a package had arrived, but when he opened the front door, he saw someone delivering his package.

Judy tried to get the thief to stop, but it didn’t happen. Now, Judy doesn’t have his package and peace of mind.

Judy shared the video of the theft with WINK News. In it, you can see the man step up and take the package. When Judy opened the door, the man stopped and looked back at Judy before walking away with the package.

“As soon as he saw me, he knew he had an easy victim. And he can walk away very easily. It is very regrettable. He had started as if he had a conscience. But then I guess greed or whatever motive took over. ”

Judy’s neighbor, Mary Shortridge, said, “if your heart isn’t so bent on helping someone like that, instead of getting in the way and hurting them, you suck.”

The man who took the package had no idea that Judy had a second camera. Judy says the photo below is from that camera, showing the man taking the package off his porch.

Those photos, and video of the theft, are now in the hands of Lee County Sheriff’s detectives.

Judy says the contents of the package isn’t the most important thing, “it’s a box of putty. Caulk, are essentially 30-foot tapes of butyl tape,” but says it could be. “It could be someone’s medicine for all we know. My wife always gets a pack of pills. “

Amazon refunded Judy the $30 he lost when he swiped his package.
