Man impersonates fire chief, writes Rye business bill for inspection and takes cash

RYE, Westchester County (WABC) — Authorities in Westchester County are looking for a person who allegedly impersonated a fireplace chief.

The person walked right into a enterprise in Rye and instructed the employees he was there the chief and there to do an inspection.

It occurred at Playa Bowls on Purdy Avenue on Friday, October 8.

It was shortly earlier than closing when the person walked in and requested the worker to name her boss, proprietor Jarrod Jackette, whom he instructed he was doing a pre-inspection.

It was then that she instructed him concerning the payout.

“She was like, ‘I gave him $500,’ and I used to be like, ‘What are you speaking about?'” he mentioned. “She was like, ‘Yeah, he mentioned you mentioned it was OK that I may pay these receipts now.’ I used to be like, ‘That is fraud…Simply name the police, have them come over.'”

The person doesn’t work for the Metropolis of Rye Fireplace Division, and police need to discover out who he actually is.

The shop, which sells smoothies and fruit bowls, opened in March and has already handled scammers posing as a Con Edison employee and an exterminator.
