The name of MAN City striker Erling Haaland gave experts as many nightmares this year as it did in defence.
The Norwegian ace, 22, tops a list of hard-to-pronounce words.
Many fans and commentators call him Halland, not Haa-Land.
Other top tongue twisters of 2022 were Rishi Sunak – with US President Joe Biden calling Prime Minister Rashid Sanook.
US actor Steve Carell struggled with CBeebies (see-bee-bees) when he guest-starred on the BBC channel.
In June, ex-PM Liz Truss mispronounced Taoiseach, the head of the Irish government, as ‘tea sock’, incorrectly as ‘tea shock’.

Babbel said, “A lot of the words have roots in languages other than English, so it’s great to see them making their way into our vernacular.”
