Man City star Erling Haaland has become just the 14th player ever to score 10/10 on the notoriously brutal L’Equipe ratings

ERLING HAALAND has joined a select group of 14 players to earn a perfect ten out of ten in L’Equipe’s ruthlessly tough Player Match Ratings.

The unstoppable Manchester City striker earned the recognition by scoring his third hat-trick of the season in Sunday’s 6-3 win over Manchester United.

City’s Phil Foden also scored three goals on a remarkable day for the Citizens but it was once again the tall Norwegian who stole the show.

Haaland’s two robbing goals towards the end of the first half effectively killed their big rivals in the much-anticipated derby.

And alongside his third hat-trick at home in the spin with a brilliant snap, he set up Foden brilliantly for his second and third goals.

The 22-year-old’s overall performance was so good that he convinced the stingy critics of the 76-year-old French sports daily L’Equipe to hand out one of their rare perfect ratings.

They said he “flew over the derby by decorating his third consecutive hat-trick at home” with “two perfect assists” while becoming “more complete” in a “gleaming team”.

And Haaland finds himself in good company alongside 13 other players on a list that includes some of the who’s who of world football.

In November, Kylian Mbappe entered the prestigious list by scoring four goals and one assist in France’s 8-0 win over Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier.

Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain teammate Neymar made the mark in 2018 with four goals and two assists in the 8-0 win over Dijon.

Then Borussia Dortmund star Robert Lewandowsky earned his spot with a fatal volley of four goals in the 4-1 Champions League semi-final win over Real Madrid in 2013.

Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi is the only player to score twice ten out of ten for two outrageous performances in the Champions League for Barcelona.

The first was for a four-goal win in the 4-1 win over Arsenal in 2010, the second for five goals in the 7-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.

But they’re all behind Haaland’s wake at the moment as his last treble since joining from Dortmund in the summer is 17 goals in 11 games, including 14 Prem goals in eight games.
