Man City fans furious as Casemiro escapes red card despite two fouls including ‘pulling Foden like a ragdoll’

MANCHESTER CITY fans were left furious after Casemiro escaped two apparent yellow card breaches during their Champions League semi-final game.

Spectators scratched their hands as Italy referee Daniele Orsato failed to show the Brazilian not just once, but twice in the first half.

And Man City’s misery was compounded as Real Madrid mounted an epic late comeback to win 6-5 on aggregate.

Casemiro’s first offense was a scissor-style tackle on Manchester City talisman Kevin De Bruyne, mowing him down.

Orsato duly whistled for a free-kick but somehow failed to show a yellow card for the tackle.

Later in the half, Casemiro was the center of attention again.

This time around, midfielder Phil Foden, 30, cynically pulled Foden to the ground as the City man tried to launch a counter-attack.

But Orsato again refused to punish Casemiro.

Livid City fans took to social media to complain about how the Real Madrid man managed to stay on the pitch.

One wrote: “Casemiro shouldn’t be on the pitch. We were robbed.”

“CASEMIRO was very fortunate to stay on the pitch after committing two clear yellow card offenses in the first half.

The Real Madrid midfielder set up a bad and reckless challenge early on for Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne.

It was Italian referee Daniele Orsato’s chance to impose his authority on the game, but he didn’t.

That led to a rout between Luka Modric and Aymeric Laporte, with Vinicius Jnr grabbing the City defender by the throat.

Orsato cautioned both attacker Modric and retaliator Laporte for his slap in the face of the Croatian and I thought that was the right result.

However, Casemiro should have received another yellow card when he withdrew Phil Foden.

It was another precaution for the Brazilian, but Orsato set his tolerance level too low.”

Another added: “Let Ref Casemiro do what he wants.”

A third viewer added: “Honestly he should have gotten a red card, so lucky to be on the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand claimed Casemiro pulled Foden down “like a rag doll” in the second incident.

He told BT Sport: “This one pulls him back by his shirt like a rag doll. I don’t know how he doesn’t get a yellow card there.

“I mean, if they’re both abiding by the law, he’s probably not on the pitch, well, he’s not on the pitch.

“But he got away with it. I think he’s cute, he stays down [and] pretends to be hurt. He got away with it.”
