Man City confident Raheem Sterling WILL sign new contract after return to form despite Arsenal and Barcelona transfer interest

He wants to make sure he remains an important part of Pep Guardiola’s plans before returning to City.

Barcelona are among a number of parties that are monitoring his situation and are considering signing him on loan in January.

But Sterling, 26, has regained his place in the starting line-up since 26-year-old Jack Grealish was injured.

And he scored key goals in wins over Everton and also Paris St-Germain on Wednesday night.

That means for the first time since August 2020, he has scored 3 goals in his last 3 appearances – after 1 goal in his previous 17 games.

Before the game, Guardiola angrily declined to comment on Sterling’s contract situation.

“Don’t ask me between now and the last day of the transfer market about transfers and about players because I won’t answer any questions,” he said.

But after scoring in Europe, Sterling will be hoping for another game against West Ham on Sunday.

City have no plans to let him go in January but the past few days have highlighted his worth.

Spain midfielder Rodri, 25, could also be rewarded for his superb season with a new contract in the summer – with two years left to go.
