Man City are sending physios to Norway to keep an eye on Erling Haaland after the £51.4million striker’s impressive start to the season

MANCHESTER CITY have sent physio Mario Pafundi to the Norwegian training camp to keep a close eye on Erling Haaland.

The champions are delighted with the start of their summer signing – with 14 goals in their first nine games.

However, they know the £51.4million star’s last season at Borussia Dortmund was marred by injuries.

And they want to make sure he sticks to the training routines that have worked so well for them for the first six weeks of the season.

Norway coach Stale Solbakken claimed Pafundi will effectively work as a third physio and not work exclusively with Haaland.

However, he admitted the striker had recommended that the medic should be added to the backroom staff for the Nations League games against Serbia and Slovakia.

It is the first international break since he officially became a City player and his new club are keen to develop a relationship with their national line-up.

Etihad sources say they aim to share the practices that worked so well during Haaland’s sensational start to life in England.

They have guided him carefully since he first joined them on July 10th and have so far reaped the benefits.

Whether Pafundi will return when Norway – who have not qualified for the World Cup – return to competition in March is yet to be decided.

He has been with City since Guardiola in 2016 and currently works as a sports therapist.

Meanwhile, Solbakken is happy with the way City have used their summer signing during their incredible start in England.

Guardiola has often substituted him when their games were won – although he played the full 90 minutes at Molineux on Saturday.

Solbakken said: “They did very, very well. I was a bit worried in the Wolves game.

“It was 3-0 and he ran and screamed when he didn’t get the ball. I yelled at the TV, “Calm down, Erling.” He has more important games ahead of him!”

Norway will meet Serbia and Slovenia in the Nations League in the next few days and are currently group winners after the first four games.
