‘Major police operation’ at German school after ‘young man with gun entered building’

A MAIN police operation is underway at a German school after an armed person was reported to have entered the building.

The incident took place at the Otto Hahn School in Jenfeld Hamburg, the scene of which was locked while officers searched the area.

Hamburg police tweeted: “There is currently a major police operation at the Otto Hahn School in #Jenfeld.

“The area around the school has been closed. A young man armed with a gun is believed to have entered the school compound.

“We’ll keep you posted here.”

It remains unclear whether the armed man entered the school or was just passing by.

Police said the building is currently being searched by special units as a precaution.

Police added: “Parents present at Otto Hahn School were asked to go to the parent collection point at Jenfelder Allee 80a (parking lot).

“You will be cared for there by emergency services as long as the school grounds are cordoned off.”
