I won £30k & a brand new BMW on an Xmas’ scratch card

A GRATEFUL girl kicked off 2022 in the best possible way, winning £30,000 and a brand new BMW on scratch cards.

Hanna Valarie Dewar, from Tain, in the Scottish Highlands, won big on a Cars & Cash National Lottery scratch card, after she nearly threw the winning ticket away.

Ms “Val” Dewar said she decided to get her scratch card after a trip to the dentist on December 22 and was in disbelief after learning she had won.

The 79-year-old nearly threw the winning ticket away before realizing he had won the top prize in cash and a brand new BMW X2, the Daily Record reports.

She said: “I went to the dentist that day and decided to buy myself some Scratch Cards to cheer up. I remember that because I was chatting with the woman behind the counter at Morrisons who was, humorously, also known as Val.

“A few days before Christmas, the store was very busy so I decided to wait until I got home to scratch them.

“I live on a farm with a big bonfire and it’s normal when I’ve scratched the cards, and if I don’t win anything, I just throw them in the fire.

“Strangely, that day the fire wasn’t lit and boy, I’m so happy for that!”
