GEORGE KAMBOSOS JR dominated Teofimo Lopez in their world lightweight bout but somehow they only won in a split decision.
Australian star won with judges scores of 115-111, 113-114 and 115-112 in New York to become the new WBA, WBO, IBF and Ring champion.
Fighting for his first world title, the 28-year-old beat Lopez in the opening round, before crashing in the tenth round.
But the Sydney-born was dominant for most of the match as he kept his 24-year-old opponent flying with his jab for a large amount of time at the time.
And it came as a surprise to most people when it was announced that a third judge was required to decide the winner of the preseason.
Judge Don Trella somehow scored the match in Lopez’s favor by one round, while Frank Lombardi and Glenn Feldman had Kambosos Jr gain four and three rounds, respectively.
What’s even more puzzling is that Trella scored the first 10-9 for Kambosos Jr, despite him sending Lopez into the frame.
Feldman also went 10-9 to the challenger in the first half with the pair believing Lopez was not overrated in the first three minutes.

Trella also gave Lopez a 10-8 bonus after the American scored a knock to him.
All three judges agreed that Kambosos Jr won the first half of the match, with Lopez knocking out late rounds due to the previous one being tired.
Come the wonder of the boxing world, Lopez declared that he should have raised his hand as the winner.
Shock Opinion LOPEZ
He even claimed that he won 10-2 in the innings, despite insisting he was not a ‘loser’.
“He’s a hell of a boxer, but I won tonight, everybody knows that,” Lopez said.
“The referee raised his hand for me. I won tonight, I don’t care what people say. I want to thank everyone who came out tonight, look, I’m not a loser, I win like I admit defeat.
“At the end of the day, I was a real champion, I did what I had to do, and I went out on the pitch and did my best.
“I don’t care what anyone says, I was just as real when they came in, and this is the person taking over, we don’t stop, we keep coming.”
Before adding: “At the end of the night I scored 11-2 -10-2.”
