Liverpool ‘want £45m Nico Williams transfer from Athletic Bilbao but face competition from Premier League rivals’
LIVERPOOL are reportedly targeting a £45m deal for Spanish star Nico Williams.
But they face competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa for the Athletic Bilbao ace.
Williams, 20, has been in good form this season with three goals and four assists in 20 games.
The youngster was part of Spain’s World Cup squad in Qatar and featured in all four games.
And AS claim Williams are now in line for a mega-money move to the Premier League after previous links with Man United.
Liverpool are big fans of the wide forward, who is out of contract next year.
Jurgen Klopp is struggling to challenge new signings Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.
And with Roberto Firmino’s future unclear, Williams has emerged as the ideal target.
But there are two problems for Liverpool, the first being price.
Williams has a £45million release clause and Bilbao won’t let him go for less.

The second problem is that Aston Villa are also interested in signing Williams.
Unai Emery knows the winger well from his last tenure as Villarreal manager.
And Villa have shown they aren’t afraid to splash the cash for the right signing.
Williams could now make a big decision at the end of the season as he has also been linked with Juventus.
Still, there’s every chance he’ll end up signing a new deal, with brother Inaki still playing for Bilbao despite his record for consecutive appearances coming to an end.
