Jürgen Klopp made the Kop clock tick again when he left.

But he is determined to uphold his legacy to keep Liverpool thriving long after his departure.

The 54-year-old German hinted ahead of Wednesday’s 2-1 FA Cup win against Norwich that he “didn’t really know” if he would change his exit strategy.

His contract expires in the summer of 2024 and he’s long claimed he’d have had enough by then.

Many fans took his response during the week as an indication that he might change his mind based on the quality of the players available to him.

But Klopp emphasized: “The plan is still the same. I realized it when I gave the answer.

“I thought ‘Oh God’ but I couldn’t undo it. I just wasn’t in the situation at the time.

“If I decide to leave – or maybe I’ll get the layoff in 2023, who knows?

“But if I decide to leave in 2024, it has nothing to do with the quality of the squad.”

However, he made one thing clear: he will not let Liverpool down if he sets out on the road, with leading the Germany national team being a possible goal.

Klopp, who tonight officiates his 361st game since arriving at Anfield in October 2015, added: “Everything we do is long-term.
