Albeit unlikely, if Manchester City are beaten by Aston Villa and Liverpool play an exciting draw against Wolves, Prem fans could be treated to one more game.

Although that would mean Steven Gerrard’s Villa would beat Pep Guardiola’s stars 6-0 on Sunday’s final day.

The Liverpool legend would have to do it on City’s patch too.

But in the incredible event that Liverpool and Wolves draw 5-5 at Anfield, football fans would be in for a historic play-off.

These results would see both teams finish the season with 90 points.

Not only that, but goal difference, goals scored and head to head results between City and Liverpool would be identical.

The sides of Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp ended with a goal difference of 66 after both had scored 96 goals and the two league games between the teams ended 2-2.

And the top-flight rules say that in this case, a playoff will be used to determine the champions.

League bosses have not yet made any formal planning for the event.

However, it is believed that the most likely tentative date for the most important singles match in the history of the competition is Wednesday 25th May.

That’s just three days before Liverpool take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Old Trafford – Home of greatest rival of BOTH Clubs, Manchester United – is the most likely venue of the duel.

If this date is not selected, the earliest other day for the game would be June 8, 17 days ACCORDING TO the end of the season.

International matches will stand in the way of the playoffs, with matches taking place around the world starting June 5.

Despite FIFA giving their approval for players from both sides to miss scheduled internationals in June.
