Liverpool plan shock transfer for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante as Jurgen Klopp seeks to bolster his midfield

LIVERPOOL are reportedly planning a shock transfer for Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante.

Jurgen Klopp has made no secret of his desire to sign a new midfielder this summer.

And El Nacional claim he turned his attention to Kante without a contract.

The 31-year-old has been limited to just two appearances this season after picking up a nasty injury.

And it was initially thought Chelsea were ready to let him go on a free transfer.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have kept eyes on Kante.

There was also interest from Barcelona.

But Liverpool are now expected to lead the race should Kante decide to leave Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea are known to have made a U-turn in their contract stance.

And they’ve been locked in talks with Kante over the past month about a new deal.

Todd Boehly is believed to have scheduled an important meeting with the French world champion and his agents this week.

And Chelsea hope Kante will turn down any interest from Liverpool boss Klopp to extend his stay in London.

The midfield ace has been at Chelsea since a £30m move from Leicester in 2016.

In that time Kante has made 262 appearances, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League and Club World Cup.

Prior to his recent injury setbacks, Kante was considered the best midfielder in the league, barring none.

And Chelsea hope by giving the veteran enough time to recover from his current setback, he can find his best form when he returns later this season.
