Liverpool hold crisis talks after Man City 4-1 win ahead of crunch clash with no-manager Chelsea

LIVERPOOL have held showdown talks after demoralizing defeat at Man City.

The Reds have fired the fewest shots in a Premier League game in 12 years in a 4-1 win over the Etihad.

And Klopp even suggested Pep Guardiola’s men showed mercy on his side instead of scoring more goals.

He said: “We were lucky they weren’t in the greediest mood. There’s nothing good to say about this game.”

Virgil van Dijk confirmed after the loss to City that a meeting would take place on Sunday night and he expects a strong exchange of views.

The Dutchman commented: “It’s a big day. If you lose like we lost then there will definitely be some tough talks.

“The turnaround is pretty quick, with Chelsea on Tuesday. We’re trying, we’re trying. The first half was pretty even against City.”

However, Klopp at least has the consolation that his job is secure for now, unlike Graham Potter who was just sacked by opponents on Tuesday night.

A statement from Chelsea read: “Chelsea FC have announced that Graham Potter has left the club. Graham has agreed to work with the club to ensure a smooth transition.

“In his time at the club, Graham guided us to the quarter-finals of the Champions League where we will meet Real Madrid.

“Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well in the future.”

“Bruno Saltor will take over the team as interim head coach.”

SunSport announced yesterday that Potter had crunch talks with the blues breams at the club’s Cobham training ground on Sunday afternoon.

Potter met with global head of transfers Paul Winstanley and technical director Laurence Stewart – both recommending the board fire him.
