LIVERPOOL were dealt another injury damage deal after Virgil van Dijk switched from the pitch to Mo Salah.

And when the game went into extra time at Wembley, Liverpool returned to the pitch without star defender Van Dijk.

The reasons for his departure have not been confirmed but the Dutchman gave the bench a disfigured look.

Van Dijk was replaced by Joel Matip while Salah left for Diego Jota.

Both will now face a battle to be fit for Liverpool’s crucial games ahead.

They are still fighting for the Premier League title and are three points behind Manchester City with two games to go.

Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to Southampton on Tuesday night before completing their Premier League season against Wolves at Anfield next Sunday.

Salah is also embroiled in a fight to win the Premier League Golden Boot.

He has scored 22 goals in 34 league games this season.

His lead is being followed by Tottenham star Son Heung-min.

The South Korean celebrated his 21st place finish of the season in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Arsenal.
