FABINHO avoided a red card after a horror challenge against Brighton’s Evan Ferguson.

The midfielder was on the pitch for just two minutes of the FA Cup clash before sinking his cleats into striker Ferguson’s back.

Fabinho was shown yellow but VAR refused to turn it over to red – as the Brazilian avoided being sent off.

It left fans online confused as they were in disbelief at the decision.

One said: “Fabinho literally knew it was a red and they still haven’t given it.”

Another said: “VAR is an absolute joke. Fabinho’s challenge against Ferguson is the clearest, most obvious red card you’ll see all season.”

One added: “This Fabinho challenge is one of the worst you will ever see.

“Absolutely f***** shocking. Damn VAR isn’t turning this into a red card.”

Another added: “Should be a straight red there for Fabinho. Hopefully Ferguson is fine, luckily his Achilles tendon is intact..”
