LIONEL MESSI’s goal drought continued as Paris Saint-Germain were knocked out of the French Cup on penalties at the hands of Nice – despite wearing his iconic number 10.
On the second night, Messi hopes to reimagine a bit of his old magic wearing Neymar’s number 10 shirt.
Due to French Cup regulations, players must line up by Nos 1-11 rather than their assigned number of Ligue 1 teams.
And with Neymar Still absent through injury, Messi has been given a one-time chance to wear the number 10 shirt he created at Barcelona.
But it did not bring him luck as he failed to score in 120 minutes of play.
PSG and Nice held to a 0-0 draw in their last 16 clash, when the game went to extra time, despite Kylian Mbappe coming on in the second half – replacing the less effective Mauro Icardi.
Neither side could break the deadlock, and the match turned to a penalty shootout.

Messi took PSG’s first kick and found the net.
But misses from Leandro Paredes and sub Xavi Simons sent Mauricio Pochettino’s side out.
Messi’s last goal in domestic football came in November in a 3-1 win over Nantes.
The former Barca man scored a brace in a 4-1 Champions League win over Club Brugge on 7 December.
But he is worryingly goalless, with life in the French capital proving to be tougher than expected.
PSG’s next match is a difficult trip to Lille on Sunday within the framework of the tournament, the match will start at 19:45.
