But they took their time preparing to join former Argentina striker Sergio Agüero on his Twitch channel.

Gomez, 34, then showed off his new bleach blonde shaved head while holding up an old photo of Golden Balls Becks in his prime.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t quite as handsome as the former England captain – he’s almost bald, in fact.

And as he anxiously held up a phone that showed the picture of Beckham next to his own head, Messi was seen laughing in the background while Aguero looked on in stunned silence.

Meanwhile, the Sevilla star revealed earlier this week that he sprained his ankle before being lifted off in Saturday’s 2-1 Round of 16 win over Australia.

Gomez was substituted off in the 50th minute against the Socceroos, Argentina led through Messi’s first-half opener.

Messi then controlled the competition, with Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez punishing Mat Ryan’s mistakes to double the lead.

Craig Goodwin responded with a heavily deflected snap, but Argentina persevered.

But the midfielder has shaken off his injury fears ahead of Friday’s big clash.

He told TyC Sports via mundoalbiceleste: “I sprained my ankle and couldn’t go on much longer.

“I preferred someone else to come in who is better than me.

“It’s a sprain, there are still a few days to recover and everything will be fine.”
