What is the meaning of Lilibet?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry named their daughter Lilibet in honor of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

As a child, Her Majesty used to say “Lilibet” because she couldn’t pronounce her name.

It soon became a nickname for the Queen, and husband Prince Philip often called her that.

Lili’s middle name, Diana, also pays tribute to a family member, honoring Harry’s mother, the Princess of Wales.

The meaning behind the young tot’s name is “God’s promise”.

Lilibet was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

According to the Sussexes’ press secretary, Lilibet and Meghan are “healthy and at home”.

Meghan had announced her pregnancy on February 14, 2021 after revealing that she suffered a miscarriage a year after giving birth to Archie.

But she soon told the world she was having a baby girl during her lengthy interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.

Meghan wrote a heartfelt message regarding Lilibet’s birth via her Archewell website, saying: “On June 4th we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter Lili.

“She is more than we could ever have imagined and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we have felt from around the world.

Adding, “Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

The couple also suggested that in lieu of gifts, family, friends and fans could donate to four charities close to their hearts: Girls Inc., Harvest Home, CAMFED or Myna Mahila Foundation.
