“Life-threatening” chemical spill near McDonald’s in Rainsville, Alabama prompts evacuation after 18-wheel vehicle overturns

A POSSIBLY life-threatening chemical spill near a local McDonald’s has prompted a mass evacuation after an 18-wheeler overturned.
The semi-trailer truck carrying hazardous materials rolled over at a major intersection in Rainsville, Alabama, on Thursday afternoon.

The Dekalb County Disaster Management Agency has recommended that people stay 1,000 feet away from the crash site.
Photos from WAAY TV showed the 18 wheel had tipped on its side as officers gathered around it.
Other images appear to show officers spitting liquid around the spill area.
The busy intersection is home to several businesses including McDonald’s, Dollar Tree, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Cricket Wireless and several gas stations.
