The new Netflix movie “Don’t Look Up” may not have been a hit at the box office, but one of the recent headliners has recalled taking a dip in the ice.

The film’s six big names – actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Tyler Perry and Jonah Hill, plus director Adam McKay – chatted about the subject of political satire for the “Around the Table” series. ” by Entertainment Weekly in a video posted last week.

Much of the 25-minute conversation revolved around how real-world realities about climate change inspired the fictional story of a planet-destroying comet bound for a collision with Earth. A pair of astronomers played by DiCaprio and Lawrence make a discovery and embark on a mission to share news of the apocalypse, but few are willing to listen.

“This movie comes out of my growing horror about the climate crisis and the fact that we live in a society that tends to treat it like fourth and fifth news stories, or in some cases even denying that it’s happening and how horrifying it is,” reflects McKay. “But at the same time, absurdly funny.”

As the conversation turned to entertaining stories surrounding the filming of the film, McKay jumped in to share the “funniest thing” that happened while Hill was with DiCaprio.

“Leo has these two rescue husks just absolute tornadoes,” McKay said, as both Lawrence and DiCaprio called them “psychopaths.”

“Like the Joker – they thrive in chaos,” Hill added, before McKay explained that Hill would send him pictures of DiCaprio’s couch having been “ripped off by the dogs.”

The “The Revenant” actor then begins the main story, explaining how both of his dogs fell into a frozen lake, leaving him initially shocked about what to do.

Lawrence added more details, describing how one of the dogs fell into the lake first. DiCaprio jumped in to save it, but as soon as he succeeded in pushing it back to safety, his other dog jumped into the water as well.

“The other one started licking the drowning one, and then we were together in the frozen lake,” DiCaprio said.

While the “Titanic” actor may have had a tragic experience on the scene in icy waters, this real-life story ended happily with everyone out safely.

Later, even while admitting his lack of experience with frozen lakes while living in California, he found a way to keep warm, according to Lawrence: “I’m sure all of you are wondering, I too. so – he was immediately. naked in the car,” she said, causing both DiCaprio and McKay to laugh.

The cast is hoping for more laughter to come to audiences of “Don’t Look Up” soon, as the series is slated to begin streaming on Netflix this Friday, the 24th. December. The comedy begins a limited run on December 10.
