Leigh Wood vs. Mauricio Lara LIVE: Leigh-thal brings the WBA title to the table against Bronco in Nottingham – undercard at the latest

Wood vs Lara is here… welcome aboard

WBA Featherweight Champion Leigh Wood meets Mauricio Lara tonight in Nottingham in what could easily be the fight of the year!

Lara is best known for fighting Josh Warrington twice, knocking him out in the first while the second was stopped after the Mexican was cut from an accidental headbutt.

Both Wood and Lara are heavy punchers and most will see this as the most explosive fight the featherweight division has to offer.

Hometown favorite Wood, who rose to become the full WBA 126-pound champion earlier this year, was scheduled to fight Lara last year before retiring with an injury.

Lara said, “I’m grateful to him for taking on this fight. We know nobody wants to compete against me at 126 pounds for a world title, but this will happen and we know what we’re capable of.

“We know it’s a big fight. We know it’s the acid test. We know Leigh Wood is a great champion but I have big ambitions and a big desire to be world champion and like I said, whatever it takes I have to do it this time.”
