First time playing Thawne on The Flash, Letscher last appeared on Legendary at the end of Season 2, partially limiting Sara & Co’s fight against the Legion of Doom (in the form of Thawne, Neal McDonough’s Damien Darhk, and John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn).
Letscher will next appear as Thawne in the January 26 4th episode of Legendary, titled “Fixed Point,” in which the typical heroes find themselves in a bar popular with time travelers.
The reason for Thawne’s involvement becomes a bit clearer in the synopsis for the next episode, which airs on February 2 and is titled “Rage Against Machines,” in which the Legend – with the help of the aforementioned speedster – break a fixed point and thus create an aberration that will attract the Evil Waverider. The Legends, in turn, are shocked to find out who’s been hunting them, then and Sara try to broker a deal… that doesn’t go as planned.
Letscher’s role in the Arrowverse is…complicated, and rather loose/sentimental. Eobard Thawne looks like Letscher, but back in 2020 – before the events of The Flash begins – the sinister speed player kills Harrison Wells (played by Tom Cavanagh) and steals the scientist’s face using a transform machine.
After the version of Reverse-Flash, the person who stole Wells’s identity was removed from the timeline on The Flash, any future iterations Candlestick looks like Letscher. But like a wave when the villain reappears in the “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover event, The FlashThawne’s version continues to resemble Cavanagh. (It’s all really messier that, but it’s too late now. Someone can certainly fill in the blanks in the comments!)
In any case, who was glad to see Letscher return to Thawne?
