Leftists don’t stop migrants from going to Rwanda because they care – they just want to pin it on the Tories

SO the battle is raging over the Interior Ministry’s flagship plan to illegally send asylum seekers across the English Channel to Rwanda.

Much to their surprise, the Home Office won the first round yesterday – but the vocal alliance of lawyers, left-wing activists and unions desperate to quash the plan is not giving up.

They will be back before the Court of Appeal on Monday demanding that the first flight – due to take off the next day – never leave the tarmac.

And given the long list of staggering human rights defeats this government has endured, who would bet against the critics winning the second round?

When the policy was first announced, I wrote that it was “a stroke of genius”. The ailing government was able to deal with the problem of illegal immigration and regain its reputation – all without having to do anything that had not previously been tried and tested. A masterpiece.

But left-wing lawyers, Labor politicians and unelected bureaucrats have other ideas – and have since launched a vocal campaign against them on the BBC and elsewhere.

Britain's soft immigration stance will NEVER stop boats from crossing the Channel
Forget a watered down monarchy, we need the full fat royal family

They say it is racist, inhumane and “putting lives at risk”. In reality, migrants are sent to a resort hotel with a swimming pool, free Wi-Fi and a tennis court. It’s hardly Guantanamo Bay, and a lot better than the ramshackle, disused army barracks and dingy B&Bs that the Interior Ministry has put asylum seekers in.

Attempts to thwart the Rwanda plan feel like little more than attempts to pin it on the Tories. Those sadists who rejoice in the Tory party’s pain are of the same breed as those who tried to obstruct the Brexit vote at every turn.

They’re the kind who pat themselves and their liberal do-gooders on the back at dinner parties for protecting foreign criminals from deportation, taking part in anti-Brexit marches or supporting the latest trend towards diversity and inclusion.

Groups that have filed this lawsuit include Detention Action and Care4Calais. The former is led by a failed Labor candidate who was beaten by the Tory counterpart by 26,000 votes in the last election.

The latter was founded by Clare Moseley, who has campaigned in the media this week with the pledge for migrants who are “overwhelmed with total shock and despair”.

Imagine my total shock when I realized this is the same Clare Moseley who left a £700,000 five bedroom house and her husband to have an affair with a Conman asylum seeker while they were refugees in a camp in Calais.

In doing so, she breaks her own charity’s sacred commandment to volunteers: never engage in sexual relations with customers.

Why she thinks she’s able to teach morality and good judgment to people living in resource-poor communities threatened by a sudden influx of asylum seekers is beyond me.

But those who thwart the process are certainly not limited to middle-class Oxbridge lawyers, well-paid charity bosses living in the suburbs, and unelected officials.

It wouldn’t be a proper leftist outrage fest if a filthy rich international corporation that claims to be a paragon of morality weren’t at the party.

Cue Ben & Jerry’s – the US-based company that has said the Rwanda plan is “morally bankrupt”, “dangerous” and “endangers lives”.

If I were a billionaire company selling sundaes filled with nearly 100 grams of fat and 26 teaspoons of sugar, which has the same number of calories as 10 cans of Coke, I’d probably be silent about what’s best for people’s health is and well-being.

If these wealthy leaders and organizations who claim the Rwanda plan is so depraved and immoral want to foot the bill for our bloated asylum system, they can be my guest. I’m sure taxpayers wouldn’t mind if they were over £1 billion richer every year.

If their local council were paralyzed by a stream of asylum seekers, if their children’s class sizes exploded due to uncontrolled migration, or their tight-knit community soon saw an influx of bored young men whose identities were being questioned, I’m sure they would change melody.

The Rwanda plan is far from perfect. It is ill-equipped to deal with the scale of illegal migration. It’s vulnerable to attack from all sorts of onerous international laws, and the government has almost overpromised and underdelivered.

But at least it’s a plan – and it’s a plan greater than those tasked with foiling it.

It may be distasteful, but what I find even more disgusting is a bunch of smug, unelected liberal cronies thwarting the agenda of a democratically elected conservative government.

WHAT Harry and Meghan lack in sympathy, Kate and Wills more than make up for in sheer kinship.

One couple has their heads in the clouds, the other couldn’t be more down to earth.

A couple are so afraid of mixing with us normal people that they sued the Home Office for refusing to provide them with British bobbies as bodyguards.

A couple goes about their duties calmly and unmolested.

William proved once again this week what a man of the people he is when, undercover in a red waistcoat and cap, he sold the Big Issue to passers-by in London.

He spoke to stunned members of the public and took selfies with them in support of the homeless charity.

I can’t think of another royal better suited to take the reins from the Queen.

WHO IS HE TO JUDGE?

WHEN Doctor Who was revived in 2005 after its long hiatus, Christopher Eccleston played a blinder as the Ninth Doctor.

I was totally infatuated with Eccleston when I religiously watched the show as a nine-year-old that spring. I was so heartbroken when his doctorate ended that I vowed never to watch the show again.

So imagine my excitement when I saw Eccleston in the papers this week.

Could my nine year old self’s dreams finally come true?

Unfortunately not. He was back in the news for saying it’s true that opportunities are shrinking for middle-aged, white, straight male actors like him who “have lived off the country’s fat.”

RIP to my childhood adoration of Eccleston fatally infected with Wokeosis.

My advice to Eccleston and others is this: if you’re saying that someone should have fewer opportunities because of their race or gender, maybe you should reconsider whether you really belong in the good guys.

Stand up for values

UK Values: The five pillars of our society that the left has made a dirty word.

These are democracy, the rule of law, individual freedom, mutual respect and tolerance towards different faiths and worldviews.

But it seems our leaders are only too happy to give up the first four to appease religious radicals.

Last week, a group of Muslim protesters successfully intimidated cinema chains into canceling screenings of The Lady Of Heaven.

They say it is “blasphemous” for its portrayal of the Prophet and other Islamic figures. A video of a protester even threatened “repercussions” if the film was not canceled.

And yet, despite the actions of this mob of ideologues going against ALL British values at once, the silence of our political leaders is deafening.

The strongest response yet came from Health Secretary Sajid Javid, who said he was *checking notes* “concerned” – hardly the sentencing of the century.

If our politicians really care about defending British values in the face of radical tyrants, they must act boldly and decisively, not rebuke half-heartedly.

A BRITISH MAD

Britney Spears married her boyfriend Sam Asghari this week.

The road to happiness took a hell of a detour.

There was the 2004 marriage that lasted 55 hours, the hit-and-run charges, a breakdown, the snakes, the lesbian action on stage, the car crash performances, the almost-abandoned babies, losing custody of their sons, the restorer -ship on which her father legally managed all her affairs – just to name a few.

The world was reminded that wherever Britney is, drama ensues as her ex crashed her wedding, which her family was unable to attend.

If you ever feel like you need to get out more, just think: it could be worse. You could be Britney Spears.
