LeBron James net worth breaks $1 billion as LA Lakers star becomes second-highest NBA all-time scorer

LEBRON JAMES is officially a billionaire — and still breaking records in court.

The LA Laker, 37, is now the second-highest all-time scorer in the NBA after overtaking legendary forward Karl Malone.

James reached the milestone after scoring 36 points in a 127-119 loss to the Washington Wizards in March, putting him past Malone’s NBA total of 36,928.

Malone – known as The Mail Man – formed a terrific duo with John Stockton during a glittering career in Utah Jazz.

Over a nearly two-decade period from 1985 to 2004, he averaged 25 points per game.

It might have been another loss in a dismal season for the Lakers, but James continues to thrive despite his team’s struggles.

And now the Akron-born superstar has his sights set on the all-time record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Kareem, a six-time MVP and six-time NBA champion, was selected as the first overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1969.

The 7ft 2 star terrorized defense for the next twenty years, amassing an incredible 38,387 points.

That record could well be in jeopardy as James shows no signs of slowing down.

In recent years he has dedicated himself to sport, pushing his limits in the gym and refining his diet to ensure maximum physical performance.

“I WON’T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT THIS”

And he’s certainly come a long way from his early days with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Like Adbul-Jabbar, James was the first overall pick in the NBA draft when he was selected by his hometown team in 2003.

James’ first contract was a juicy one, with the Rookie of the Year taking home $4,018,290 in his freshman year with the Cavs.

Since then, he’s amassed a staggering fortune built on top-notch gaming, lucrative endorsement deals and forays into film.

James is probably the most famous NBA world star since Michael Jordan.

And his net worth is now north of $1 billion, making him the third NBA player of all-time — behind Jordan and Kobe Bryant — to hit nine figures.

According to Spotrac, his total NBA career earnings are a staggering $387,384,119.

And he’s not done with that, as the final year of his Lakers contract will net James another $44,474,988 in 2022-23.

But overall, LeBron has raked in over $1 billion by combining his player salary with annual sponsorships.

Deals with Beats, Blaze Pizza, GMC, AT&T, Pepsi, Rimowa, and Walmart alone are said to bring in a whopping $100 million a year.

LeBron isn’t afraid to enjoy his hard-earned cash as he owns an incredible fleet of luxury cars and a $37 million Beverly Hills mansion.

“THE RIGHT PLAY”

But his focus remains on the Lakers and getting back to winning ways – with the all-time record secondary.

He said after passing Malone’s total, “I’m not going to allow myself to think about it [passing Kareem].

“I’ve always played the game the way I’ve played it over the years and those things just happened organically by just going out there and playing the game properly.

“I hope to achieve that at some point in my career, but I won’t think too much about it.”

Climbing to second place on the all-time list is quite an achievement, especially considering which NBA kings make up the rest of the top ten.

There is only one other active player on the list right now – LeBron’s LA teammate Carmelo Anthony.

He sits just ahead of Moses Malone in ninth place, ahead of Shaquille O’Neal, Wilt Chamberlain and Dirk Nowitzki next.

In fifth place is Chicago Bulls legend Jordan with 32,292 before tragic Lakers legend Bryant sits fourth with 33,643.

The top three are well ahead, with Malone, James and Abdul-Jabbar sitting pretty in an elite club.
