Lawyer says woman who lost leg after getting pedicure in Tampa received US$1.75 million

Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) — A Tampa nail salon has reached a $1.75 million settlement with a woman who had her foot amputated after she had a pedicure at the business, according to law firm Morgan & Morgan.

Attorneys say Clara Shellman contracted the infection after getting a pedicure at Tammy’s Nails 2 on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa in September 2018. Part of her leg was amputated after the infection spread from her toe to her lower leg. foot, according to Morgan & Morgan.

Lawyers argue that careless cleaning and improper cleaning of nail tools led to infection.

“In patronizing this salon, Ms. Shellman had a reasonable expectation that the professionals working there would keep their tools clean to protect her health and safety,” the attorney said. of Morgan & Morgan, said Paul Fulmer, who represents Ms. Shellman. “While the infection the salon alleged to have caused Ms Shellman started with a small cut, it spread rapidly due to her severe peripheral artery disease.
