Latest war between Ukraine and Russia: Putin ‘doesn’t look well’ as video shows despot at GRIPPING table amid claims he has Parkinson’s

Putin is blackmailing Europe by cutting off gas supplies in response to sanctions

RUSSIA blames Western sanctions for its decision to limit gas supplies to Europe.

On Tuesday, Gazprom – Moscow’s state-backed energy giant – announced it would cut gas supplies through a key European pipeline by 40 percent, reports The Guardian.

In a statement, the company said it was forced to partially halt operations at the Portovaya compressor station on Russia’s Baltic Sea coast.

“Due to the sanctions imposed by Canada, Siemens Energy is currently unable to deliver refurbished gas turbines to customers,” it said.

“Against this background, we have informed the Canadian and German governments and are working on a viable solution.”

Germany says the move was politically motivated and has urged Canada to review its sanctions against Moscow.

Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck said: “I also have the impression that what happened yesterday (Tuesday) is a political decision and not a technically justifiable decision.”

He added: “We’ll have to wait and see how this affects the European and German gas market.

“The argument of the Russian side is only a pretext. It’s obviously a strategy to unsettle and push up prices.”
