Why Was Jeffrey Dahmer Dubbed “The Milwaukee Cannibal”?
Dubbed “The Milwaukee Cannibal,” Jeffery earned the cruel nickname after his murderous and twisted reign of terror.
He murdered and dismembered 17 men over a period of 13 years before being arrested by authorities.
He would keep body parts as souvenirs, including skulls and genitals.
“He frequently took photos of his victims at various stages of the murder process so that he could later recall each act and relive the experience,” according to Biography.com.
After committing the gruesome murders, he was arrested by Milwaukee police officers on July 22, 1991.
Dahmer would be convicted the following year and sentenced to 16 consecutive life sentences.
According to Biography.com, he is said to have “adjusted well to prison life, although initially he was kept separate from the general population.”
“He eventually convinced authorities to allow him to integrate more fully with other inmates.”
Dahmer found religion in the Wisconsin prison and received permission to be baptized by a local pastor.
