Latest UK weather forecast: Met Office warns SNOW will sweep Britain in arctic blast -11C after ‘warmest NYE record’

Forecasters say BRITAIN will greet in 2022 after the warmest New Year’s Eve on record – but snow will follow shortly after as an arctic blast sweeps across the country.
Temperatures were set to be “particularly mild” this week before hitting a mellow 15C on Friday – warmer than April, when the mercury hovered around 14C on average.
Nearly 50 flood warnings have been issued across England as riverbanks burst after torrential downpours ahead of a calm New Year’s Eve.
Amazingly, the weather will be fine on the south and southeast coasts as in Athens, Madrid and Rhodes.
And if the predictions are correct, those areas will be hotter than the record 14.8C recorded in Colwyn Bay, north Wales, in 2011.
