THE Denver Nuggets won the NBA championship for the first time in their history Monday night.

Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets to a 94-89 victory over the Miami Heat in Game 5 on Monday night.

And that sealed a 4-1 series win for Denver and a historic title as their fans partied into the night.

Jokic was named NBA Finals MVP while point guard Jamal Murray broke down in tears on the court.

Murray overcame a serious cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out for the entire 2021–22 season.

The team will carry its Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy through downtown in front of its adoring fans on Thursday.
