Late Rain Opportunity Starting in 2022 – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A warm and humid start to the new year!
The chance of rain has been pushed back a little after midnight but there is still a chance for light showers through the night for the NYE celebration as the ball drops.

The temperature will remain at 50 for New Year’s Day morning and peak at 50 for the afternoon.
Rain increases in intensity on New Year’s Day in the afternoon and evening, where precipitation is expected to be .50 – 1″ and even 1-2 for areas south of I-70.

There will be less rain in the north.
Rain to snow is expected Sunday with little or no snow accumulation as temperatures will drop during the day but remain above freezing.
Temperatures will be in the 40s starting Sunday then dropping overnight back to the 20s!
Monday, colder air returns for the Steelers game in the 20s, so cheer up!
It will be dry for the first half of the week due to the high pressure taking over, so expect plenty of sunshine and even a warm return to close to 50 by midweek.
