Last-minute shoppers fill the malls, stores in the Chicago area

CHICAGO – The countdown timer is on for last minute shopping.

Most stores in the Chicago area will close by 6 p.m

And most retailers will be closed on Christmas Day.

Supply chain issues have slowed delivery of items this year, so people are encouraged to start on their lists earlier.

However, one website, RetailMeNot, shows that 74% of consumers plan to shop at least the last minute this holiday season.

Also adding to the crowds, Christmas comes on a Saturday this year.

So many people are off today because some businesses and federal offices recognize Friday as a holiday.
