Las Vegas Bridge collapses on 95th Street, injuring construction workers in the rubble

A bridge in LAS Vegas collapsed on 95th Street on Thursday leaving a construction worker believed to be injured in the rubble.

Nevada Highway Patrol ‘Ashlee Wellman confirmed to Las Vegas Review Magazine that a bridge has collapsed in the area and the Metropolitan Police Department is responding.

KXNT Talk Radio also took to Twitter to cover the crash that happened on “Eastern/95.”

According to the radio, the Las Vegas Fire was on the scene and a man is believed to be trapped.

“Eastern is closed under 95 for bridges until next Tuesday,” tweet concluded.

Footage of the scene, shared by KXNT, shows emergency personnel at the scene.

The Sun contacted Nevada Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Adrienne Packer to confirm whether a man was trapped but did not immediately receive an answer.

Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski confirmed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that one person was injured in the bridge collapse.

Syzmanski said the plan to tear down an intersection bridge was part of a project by the Nevada Department of Transportation, closing East Avenue.

It is unclear whether the planned demolition caused the bridge to collapse or the bridge collapsed for other reasons.

According to a LAFD spokesman, preliminary information emerged that “one person was injured and complaining of back pain at the scene.”

He also noted that workplace safety officials have been contacted.
