According to transfer expert Fabrizio RomanoHowever, the right-back is in talks with the Citizens about a possible contract extension.

The Bundesliga champions still want to sign the England international but City manager Pep Guardiola wants to stick with him.

Romano tweeted: “Man City and Kyle Walker in talks over contract extension.”

“Sources believe this is still a possibility despite Bayern’s interest.”

“Bayern want Walker but City are still in talks about Kyle’s whereabouts.”

Walker’s contract expires in 2024, meaning City could lose him on a free transfer next year if he stays without signing a new deal.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is a huge admirer of the 33-year-old, whom he observed during his time in the Chelsea dugout.

Bayern are looking intensively for a right-back for the summer transfer window.

And the German giants are determined to secure a top-quality deal after refusing to convert Walker’s City team-mate Joao Cancelo’s loan deal into a permanent one.

Despite an impressive season at home and abroad, City are also looking to improve in defence.

That’s why Guardiola is keen to sign RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol.
