KROGER has announced a major change in the layout of some stores, delighting shoppers who don’t have much time.
The retailer is adding additional Saladworks and Zalat Pizza locations across multiple stores.
Kroger’s two new Saladworks locations will open in the Columbus, Ohio area and the chain’s second Zalat Pizza location will go to Houston, Texas, reports Winsight Grocery Business.
Saladworks, of course, has salads, as well as soups, paninis, and sandwiches.
While there are pre-selected salads, there is also the option to create your own or create your own wrap.
“As Saladworks continues to grow, we are pleased to offer our menu at Mix Food Hall locations in Columbus,” Saladworks chief brand officer Lauriena Bornstein said in a statement.
“Bringing healthy food to individuals and families quickly and easily is our priority, and partnering with Kitchen United’s Mix Food Hall has allowed us to continue to bring fresh, healthy meals to more people in the communities where we operate .”
The restaurant noted that customers “can place orders at on-site kiosks at Kroger locations or on Mix Food Hall’s website, in addition to third-party delivery apps.”
The chain was launched at Kroger in Cincinnati in 2020.
They have since expanded to additional locations throughout Ohio and a location in Kentucky.
Zalat is a Texas-based pizza chain.
They have 27 locations but this is the second in a Kroger.
“Kroger is incredibly excited to extend our partnership with Zalat Pizza by launching a second in-store restaurant following the continued success of the first location in our Towne Lake marketplace,” said Liz Colvin, vice president of merchandising for Kroger’s Houston Division .
“We are sure that our customers will be equally hungry for all of Zalat Pizza’s offerings at Conroe Marketplace.”
Zalat is also happy about the partnership.
“We are particularly pleased that Kroger is interested in us due to our superior quality and dedication to our craft,” said Khanh Nguyen, CEO and Founder of Zalat Pizza.
“Our model has always been about maintaining execution at the highest level at scale, and we’re pleased that Kroger shares our vision.”
The restaurant will offer “take-out and third-party delivery, in-store pizza, retail pizza take-out and baking, and limited indoor and patio seating.”
It comes as Kroger opened three Mix Food Hall locations alongside Kitchen United this fall.
The semi-food courts house the new Saladworks locations.
Below are the rankings for Ohio food courts:
- Clintonville: Hardee’s, Pei Wei Asian Kitchen, Wow-Bao, Nektar Juice, Saladworks, Fuku Fried Chicken
- Dublin: Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, Wing Zone, Pei Wei Asian Kitchen, Nathan’s Famous, Nektar Juice Bar, Fuku Fried Chicken
- Gahanna: Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs, Genghis Grill, Wow-Bao, Nekter Juice Bar, Fuku Fried Chicken, Saladworks
Guests may mix and match items from independent restaurants in one order.
Michael Montagano, Chief Executive Officer of Kitchen United said: “Kitchen United is proud to open its first Mix Food Hall in the Columbus area.
“Families and groups that can’t agree on what to eat for lunch or dinner will love the ability to order different dishes from different restaurants in one order.”
