Kroger gives sassy response to shoppers after they slam ‘flashing’ self-checkout

KROGER customers have taken to social media to express their displeasure with changes to the store’s self-checkout area.

Shoppers across the country have complained about the checkout change since the store first introduced it.

However, only a handful of them were in use at the time.

“Everyone hates this Kroger,” he said in the video.

“It ruins grocery shopping. I hope the executives enjoy the bonus #SelfCheckoutSucks,” he wrote in the caption.

The grocery store responded, but didn’t offer much help to the angry consumer.

“Thank you for your video and your feedback. We’re sorry you’re not a fan of the self-checkout cash register. We can understand that. We have forwarded your feedback to our leadership team for review,” the store responded.

This isn’t the first time a Kroger shopper has contacted the store about self-checkout.

Earlier this week, another shopper wrote: “I’m tired of paying at the checkout myself and standing in very long lines. Kroger…no wonder HEB is killing you all here. HEB will handle all my business.”

HEB is another popular grocery store.

“Their self-checkout lines are the worst,” wrote a third shopper.

“They screw everything up and slow everything down! Stop having 1 one person checkout and 7 self checkouts!!!!”

Customers were particularly dismayed when they discovered that at one location in Franklin, Tennessee, all employee-operated checkouts had been removed and replaced with self-checkouts.

In each case, Kroger gave a similar response and promised to reach out to its “leadership team” to address the concerns.

Self-sufficient

The backlash against self-checkouts at Kroger was swift and ongoing.

“Not a single checkout is open at @Kroger other than self-checkout,” one customer wrote on X.

“Tell me how I can get an employee discount for doing the work.”

It became clear that this was not an isolated incident after a shopper elsewhere on X shared a similar story.

“Hey @Kroger… It has to be one of the absolute worst ways to handle crowd management. An alley is open where the person checks out the customers. Only three self-checkout lanes are open. 20 people in line. “No one in sight,” they wrote.

Kroger responded that they would “discuss staffing levels with store management.”

Shoppers have also expressed complaints and concerns about the store’s new delivery policy after discovering missing items on several orders.

The grocery store is offering customers the chance to win free groceries for a year.
